Ok, so your webvertisement is great for firing up prospective students - but what about the students you already have?
After many requests from users of the prototype version of all this, we've added a Students' Area to your webvertisement, and filled with some goodies that we think your students might find handy. Not as full featured as our insanely detailed PracticePage student webpage system, but still provides them with plenty to keep them both informed and engaged.
But there's an ulterior motive for having a Students' Area. It's also a very effective way for prospective students to see evidence of your studio in action - the way you handle your Students' Area will speak volumes about your energy, creativity and priorities as a teacher.
So what will your students find when they click on the Students' Area tab of your webvertisement?
Downloadable studio resources
All personalized with the name of your studio - so it will look like you created them. Your students simply click on the resource they need, and then print.
Note drilling question sheet generator.
Designed for instant notereading homework - students can even generate an answer sheet so they can grade their own work.
Fanciful manuscript paper
Again personalised with the name of your studio, so their theory homework is completed on studio stationery - and fun stationery at that. Just another little extra that helps add to the feeling of "belonging" to your studio.
Parents will be impressed that you went to the time and trouble to create such resources. You didn't, but you did take the time and trouble to subscribe so that such resources were always available.
We'll be expanding this downloads section in the coming months - you can play with prototypes of some of some of the upcoming resources at our other sites at www.musicteaching.com and www.practicespot.com. We'd also be interested to hear requests for future resources. (We have lots planned)
Scrolling News-ticker
More than just news - you can run competitions, announce awards, give practice hints. Check out our guide to great ideas for your News-ticker, but no two teachers will use this resource in exactly the same way. If your studio has some exciting initiatives running, make sure the details appear on the News-ticker - your webvertisement is no place to be shy about your great ideas.
Creating a brand new news item takes seconds, and the updates appear instantly at the site.
Studio Calendar
So your students don't get ambushed by deadlines, and so you're not deluged with 'when do lessons resume?" questions during your holidays. Get them used to the idea that ALL important dates will be listed in the Students' Area of your website, and that they should check the webpage instead of calling you.
Useful Links
A list of websites recommended by you. We've added some to get you started, but you'll quickly fill this with your own links too. You can edit or delete any of the links at any time, so this list can truly reflect the priorities and interests within your own studio.
Studio Policy
The argument saver. In PDF or word format - they simply click it and print. If you ever need to update your studio policy, simply upload your latest version, and it will automatically replace the old version.
A way to contact you
Your students can email you simply by clicking on the link - you can choose which email address you want the message forwarded to. (We keep your actual email address hidden, so your page is not targetted by spammers). Again, designed to ensure you're aways accessible to your students, but without having to interrupt your family time to field phone calls.
If the idea of full integration of your students into your website appeals, you might want to check out our studio management website system at www.practicepage.com - it's designed more to RUN your studio rather than promote it, and you'll be amazed at what's possible.
